About me...I care about people. You will find me to be attentive, caring, experienced, and supportive. I work to make the therapy space a comfortable one.
I work empathically, which means that I believe it's important to start by understanding. I believe that we can make sense of even the thoughts and behavior that we most struggle to understand once we see them in the full context of our history and experience. True understanding lifts the weight of self-judgment from our shoulders, and it is from that place that we can heal and grow. I believe that the strength to overcome our struggles lies within each of us, and that we can access that strength if we have someone who is willing to really listen, to walk alongside, and to be a partner in the journey of therapy. I work collaboratively and psychodynamically, which means that I structure how I work with people based on the unique needs of each person. I want to know how you experience me and what we are doing together in the therapy, and I adjust what I am doing based on what we, together, discover is working. I want you to understand what I am doing and why. I care about your experience in the therapy room. I integrate narrative therapy, schema therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, emotionally-focused therapy, relational psychotherapy, and other models into my work. |
